Hi, my name is Victoria Abbott and I am graduating this summer from Northumbria University with a BA (hons) in Animation.   I am interested in all aspects of animation but my strongest skills currently lie within the 2d rotoscope field and Motiongraphics. Planning and organising would be another of my strong suits, along with timing work to fit music.

Although I currently lack  industry employment, I have had positions of responsibility before...

Bar Staff. The Chillingham.

2013 - 2014

During my second year at university I worked part time at a local pub/restaurant. Working during my studies gave me the oportunity to learn how to balance different aspects of my life. I mainly worked in the bar, serving customers drinks, handling cash and working the till. It was also my responsibility to do end of day health and safety check and clean up/ restock the fridges. I loved my time  here as the family of employees worked so well together. It was a positive, friendly atmosphere which is the best possible work environment.

Accounts Assistant. CBL Cable Contractors.

2011 Jan - 2012 August

This was my first full time 9-5 job. I thouroughly enjoyed having a permanent roll within a company which I could make my own. The longer I stayed the more I learnt, and the more responsibilities I was given.  Tasks included, Answering phone calls,  Making phone calls, Filing invoices, inputting data into SAGE LINE50, sorting timesheets, inputting payroll data, printing cheques. Along with covering the reception from time to time. This was vital experience in the world of work  but allowed me to discover that although being organised, efficient and logical are some of my strongest skills, I still needed some creativity in my day to day work, which this role lacked.

Bar Staff. Seaton Carew Social Club.

2008 - 2009

This was my first job. I started out as glass collector then worked my way up to bar staff. I also worked in the kitchen on Sundays waiting tables and cleaning dishes. Sometimes I continue to cover the odd christmas shift as the manager knows that I am a reliable, polite, people person.

Northumbria University. BA(hons) Animation.

2012 - present

A highlight of my time at Northumbria was being given the opportunity to run and organise an animation day for a local primary school Hilton Academy. I organised a meeting with teachers from the school to organise the day then recruited 15 of my course to volunteer to show the children what animation is all about.  The 60 children where split into 3 groups one room made a whiteboard stop motion and lego stop motion. Another got the children to jump and move around the room to make it look like they where floating. The final room did claymation with playdoh. It was a brilliant day. And this responsibility was a wonderful insight both into animation planning and teaching.
